Why you struggle with weekend overeating
To be clear, there is nothing wrong with sometimes eating a lot of food. However, if you constantly struggle with overeating at the weekend, it’s a sign that something is off. Here are 3 possible reasons: ⠀ 1. You eat boring food: Often when people try to eat healthily, they end up eating bland and boring foods, which makes them feel mentally restricted. This doesn't have to be the case, there are so many ways to make healthy food that is also yummy. When you make your food tasty, you will feel so much more satisfied during the week and will be much more able to make mindful decisions about food at the weekend. 2. You undereat during the week: This is a pattern I observe quite frequently in people trying to be ‘good.’ The problem with constantly trying to ‘save’ calories is that you make yourself feel deprived mentally and physically. When it gets to the weekend you are more likely to overeat. Instead, if you eat enough to feel satisfied each day. When you spread your daily intake more, you keep energy levels and hunger much more stable, which means you go into the weekend feeling much more balanced. 3. You don't make time to destress: So many people spend so much of their day feeling super stressed and don't make time to relax and unwind. The 'grind' mentality means that you can feel guilty for giving yourself this time to just chill because you feel like you should be constantly productive. When you give yourself time to relax, it is much easier to make decisions about food that make you feel good, rather than eating foods that you are only drawn to when you are stressed.
