Why eating does not have to be an elaborate event
Eating does not have to be an elaborate event... In discussions about mindful eating, I hear a lot of rules about eating: sitting at a table, having no distractions, eating as slowly as possible etc. Whilst there’s nothing wrong with making eating a special occasion, it doesn’t have to be. If you only allow yourself to eat after you adhere to a bunch of rules, that’s restrictive. Sometimes eating is just grabbing something quick, eating it on the go and moving on with your life. To me, that’s self-care. Despite enjoying food, it’s not the most important thing in my life and my daily routine reflects that.
