What to do after overeating
Unlike what most of the fitness industry will tell you, overeating occasionally is totally normal and not a big deal. ⠀ When it comes to overeating, what we do afterwards is a lot more important than what we do during. Nobody gains weight from one meal and maybe it was totally worth the indulgence anyway. ⠀ The best thing you can do when you overeat is just accept it and move on. That doesn't mean you can't reflect on what happened at the time. Maybe you hadn’t eaten enough beforehand, maybe you had not slept well the night before or perhaps you were feeling really stressed. . ⠀ All of these are valuable pieces of information that you can use to navigate these events next time. They are not reasons to beat yourself up, they are just lessons to be learned. ⠀⠀ If you try to compensate, you’re much more likely to get into a cycle of restricting and overeating. This is not only a physically and mentally unhealthy place to be also reinforces the idea that you can’t trust yourself around food. In all of this, I think it's really important to focus on the big picture. How much you eat, how much you get to the gym or how your body looks are only small aspects of life. There’s so much else out there to spend your time and energy on!
