What really happens when you miss the gym
I used to be really obsessive about the gym and would get really anxious if I had to miss a day. I worried about gaining weight, becoming weaker and losing muscle from if I wasn't able to go to the gym for a day. I really enjoy training so it is something I like to do regularly but if I miss a session or two for whatever reason, I'm fine with it. I don't try to make up for it, I don't restrict food and I don't feel anxious or guilty.
Changes to our strength or body composition take much longer to happen, like weeks and months, not a couple of days. Nothing happens when we skip the gym for a day or two.
If we do take an extended break from the gym and start to notice these changes happening, it is really not a big deal. We will get it all back when we resume our normal routine. Life happens and the gym is always going to be there.
