Diet mentality vs intuitive eating: holiday prep


There is a lot of talk right now about ‘shredding’, ‘cutting’, and ‘getting in shape’ for summer. It can seem like everyone is dieting and that you need to jump of the bandwagon too. I just want to remind you that there is another option. You do not have to change your body for summer (or any other time). You deserve to rock it on the beach whatever your body looks like. ⠀ The idea of a ‘beach body’ is one of the many ways that diet culture tries to manipulate you into buying stuff, staying busy and most notably staying quiet. You deserve more. I will never tell people that they should love their bodies or that they cannot be happy unless they do because I don’t believe that to be true. Body acceptance is absolutely fine. You are so much more than a body and realising that is so freeing. If you are feeling tempted to diet, think about why. Self-reflection isn’t easy but it can be hugely valuable in revealing what is really going on. Remind yourself you have a choice. You don’t have to follow the crowd.
