Practical fitness and nutrition strategies
Within the fitness industry there’s a lot of talk about optimising diet and exercise but very little discussion of ‘the next best thing’. What I mean by that is strategies that might not be ideal but make the most of your current situation.
The constant discussion of optimality often leaves people thinking that if they can’t be perfect then ‘why bother at all?’ However, you can always make the most of your current situation.
If you can’t get to the gym 3 times, you could go twice and make your time spent there really efficient. If you are trying to eat more nutrient dense foods but finding it really overwhelming, start with just one meal a week. There’s always a next best thing!
It’s not about being perfect, it’s about doing what works best for you in a particular situation. This is something I work a lot on with my clients because I want to empower them to be able to make the most of a suboptimal situation.
