How to handle overindulgence
When there are a lot of yummy treats around, it's likely that at some point you'll probably indulge. This is totally normal and not a big deal.
When it comes to overindulging, what we do afterwards is a lot more important than what we do during. Nobody gains weight from one meal and maybe it was totally worth the indulgence anyway. The best thing we can do when we overeat is just accept it and move on. That doesn't mean we can't reflect on what happened at the time. Maybe we arrived at an event too hungry, maybe we had not slept well the night before or perhaps we were feeling really stressed.
All of these are valuable pieces of information that we can use to navigate these events next time. They are not reasons to beat ourselves up, they are just lessons to be learned.
I think it's really important to focus on what really matters this time of year. It's not how much you eat and drink, how much you get to the gym or how your body looks. It's about celebrating events with people you care about, which easily gets forgotten.
