How to do mindful eating

I see a lot of discussion about mindful eating, a lot of which I think reinforces disordered eating, rather than helping combat it.

Awareness is great but there is a fine line between paying attention and being obsessive. You don’t need to have a bunch of rules about how and when to eat or beat yourself up if you eat something that doesn’t feel good.

Eating should not be difficult. You don’t need to go through mental gymnastics just to make a decision about food. You can get to a place where you eat what you want, when you want and just move on.
