Diet mentality vs intuitive eating: eating a salad

Intuitive eating is much more about why you eat than what. Eating a food because it’s ‘good’, ‘clean’, ‘healthy’ etc is very different to eating it because you really want it. Constantly eating foods you hate isn’t sustainable. Regardless of the nutritional properties of the food, you’ll still feel deprived because you’re not honouring your needs. Food is not just fuel. It should be enjoyable and something that add la to your life. Using your internal cues to make decisions about food is scary, hard but incredibly freeing. It allows you to eat what you really want, without guilt, judgement or anxiety. It means that you can eat as much food as you need to feel satisfied, rather than using rules to determine how much you can eat.
